Each of the two 4-inch woofers is built on a truncated heavy steel frame and substantial magnet structure. Its long-throw design incorporates a coated pressed paper cone with a concave dust cap, large radius rubber surround, and vented pole piece.
The tweeter is based on Micca’s popular 0.75-inch silk dome design, using a high-efficiency neodymium magnet and small bezel for tight driver spacing. Translucent mesh fabric over beveled thin frame makes up the acoustically transparent grill cover.
The RB42-C owes its tonal balance and transparency to a 10-element crossover that uses high-grade film capacitors and air-core coils for key components. Both the tweeter and woofer circuits have an 18dB/octave slope to enhance power handling, dramatically reduced lobing, and superior off-axis performance.
Distortion and coloration are effectively reduced through the use of ¾-inch thick MDF panels on all sides of the enclosure, with 100% miter joints for greater bonding contact area. The enclosure is stuffed to specific density with polyfill to eliminate resonance and enhanced enclosure tuning.
The RB42-C’s sound signature is warm and slightly forward, perfect for enhancing the clarity of dialogue and singer vocals. It is dynamic, energetic, and inviting to listen to for hours on end. Sit down for a listen and you’ll be rewarded by its revealing qualities full of dynamic detail.
The midrange output is particularly engaging for a relatively compact speaker, while its smooth frequency response reproduces music and movies faithfully. The tweeter is level biased just slightly below neutral to reduce listening fatigue without losing an ounce of detail.
